Occupational Therapy Services

Onsite Consultation and Direct Services for Families of The Community

Carolann Prescott, BSPY MSOTR/L, is our onsite Occupational Therapist as well as our Co-Director at Sensational Minds: Early Learning Academy LLC. The role of Occupational Therapists in the early childhood setting is to collaborate with childcare providers, parents, and other professionals in order to identify and meet the needs of children who experience delays or challenges in development.

Areas which Occupational Therapists address are all aspects of daily life such as: play, social skills, social-emotional behavior, activities of daily living (toileting, dressing, bathing, etc.), sensory processing, fine and gross motor skills, visual motor integration skills, etc. Any difficulty a child may have that diminishes their independence in any skill or environment, Occupational Therapy can address these needs. Other roles the OT will have outside of individual treatment will be to: provide developmental screenings biannually in order to determine growth or needs of the Sensational Minds students, as well as have continuous consultative services with all staff at the facility in order to promote growth and development through curriculum, classroom environment, transitioning strategies, appropriate scheduling, etc.

Individual/Group Services For Children in the Community:

If you have concerns about your child's development and would like to seek out Occupational Therapy Services, with a Physician's Referral, Carolann can perform a comprehensive evaluation in order to assess all of your child's and families needs. If the child qualifies for Occupational Therapy Services, Carolann will then schedule the frequency of direct services at the families convenience in order to help your children develop as well as help families understand and learn new strategies to aid their child as well.
